Opening Prayer
God our Father, Heavenly Father, you we thank you for giving us Jesus to be our Light. Help us to follow Him and be thankful that His light shines on us and let him guide us and help us. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Sorry Song (to the tune of If you’re happy and you know it)
When we say that you are sorry, God forgives.
When we say that you are sorry, God forgives.
If our sins are large or small,
God will still forgive them all.
When we say that we are sorry, God forgives.
Then sing the Gloria (tune of Row, Row, Row your Boat)
Praise, praise, praise the Lord, Praise our Father dear.
As we listen to his word, feel his spirit near.
Gospel – Matthew 10:26-33
The Lord be with you. All: And with your spirit. (teach them this)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew. All: Glory to you, O Lord. (teach them this)
Jesus said: “So do not be afraid of people. Whatever is now covered up will be uncovered, and every secret will be made known. What I am telling you in the dark you must repeat in broad daylight, and what you have heard in private you must announce from the housetops. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather be afraid of God, who can destroy both body and soul in hell. For only a penny you can buy two sparrows, yet not one sparrow falls to the ground without your Father's consent. As for you, even the hairs of your head have all been counted. So do not be afraid; you are worth much more than many sparrows!
“For those who declare publicly that they belong to me, I will do the same before my Father in heaven. But if anyone rejects me publicly, I will reject him before my Father in heaven.”
The Gospel of the Lord.
All:“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”

Suggestions for the Discussion
Has anybody ever been afraid of the dark? Why do you think we are sometimes afraid of the dark? Maybe it's because we can't see in the dark. God tells us not to be afraid of the dark and that we are never alone and He will always take care of us.
There are other times when we feel afraid or nervous. Maybe you have to stand up in front of the class or in an assembly and read something, or you are in a school play or performance. Put up your hand if you have ever been afraid. Pick a few of the children to share why they were afraid.
In our Bible story today, Jesus told the disciples, "My heavenly Father knows when even one little sparrow falls dead from the sky and you mean more to Him than all the birds in the world." God cares for us all so much that He sent His only Son to us.
The disciples were brave enough to go and share with other people that Jesus had come back from the dead even though they were afraid at first. But they kept on, because they knew that God cared for all of them and would watch over them. So we must remember in the times that we are afraid, if we have faith, God will always watch over us..
How do we share the Gospel message today like the disciples did? We can tell people about Jesus and what we learn in school and in liturgy but we must also try to live in the way that Jesus taught us. How can we do that?
Pray every day, be kind, helpful, caring, respectful, forgiving, don’t be tempted to follow what we know is wrong, remember to ask for forgiveness for our mistakes, listen to our parents, carers etc.
Prayer: God, our Father, we are thankful that You know everything about us and love us so much that you sent Your only Son for us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
